New Zealand Universities Awards (NZUA) 2025
The
New Zealand Universities Awards
supports students from
Viet Nam
to study undergraduate programmes at New Zealand universities. If you want to prepare for the future with one of the world's best education systems, then this scholarship is for you. Graduates from New Zealand universities are valued by employers around the world for their ability to think critically and solve problems creatively.
New Zealand’s higher education system is globally recognised, with all eight universities ranked in the top 2% of universities worldwide according to the QS World University Rankings 2025.
The 2025 NZUA programme offers 14 scholarships, worth NZD 15,000 each, for students enrolling at one of New Zealand's eight universities: University of Auckland, Auckland University of Technology, University of Waikato, Massey University, Victoria University of Wellington, University of Canterbury, Lincoln University, and University of Otago.
Eligibility:
In order to be eligible to enter the initiative, students must:
Have completed secondary education in Viet Nam(1)
Be a legal citizen of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam,
Are currently residing in Viet Nam,
Not hold New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency,
Not currently be studying in a pathway/ articulation/ joint programme between a Viet Nam institution and New Zealand university.
Be aged between 16 and 19 years at the time of application,
Have obtained an unconditional or conditional offer of place letter from one of the 8 New Zealand universities
Meet the academic(2) and English (equivalent to IELTS 7.0 with no band under 6.5 or above) requirements
Be able to commence study for whole bachelor’s degree programme in New Zealand in February 2026. If you are awarded an NZUA scholarship and cannot start in February 2026, any deferral requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis with the awarding university.
(1) This includes MOET’s secondary education programme and any other international programmes that are allowed to be taught in Vietnam and meet the admission criteria of New Zealand universities
(2) MOET curriculum: Grade 12’s overall GPA from 8.5 and above, Cambridge A-level: a minimum of two A grades and one B grade (best three subjects), International Baccalaureate (IB): a minimum of 32 points.
