I AM NEW Scholarship – NZD $15,000

The I AM NEW Scholarship is for high school students from France, Germany and Italy to study at a New Zealand high school for a minimum of ten weeks.

New Zealand's education system takes a high-quality, innovative teaching approach in a safe learning environment. Students enjoy personal attention from passionate teachers and a balance of theoretical and practical learning. New Zealand schools offer a wide range of subjects that develop students' ability to think critically, creatively and collaboratively. A New Zealand education encourages diversity, empathy, and a fresh way of looking at the world.

There are three I AM NEW scholarships available for high school students: one each for France, Germany and Italy. Each scholarship provides NZ$15,000 (approximately €8,500) to contribute to tuition, school-related costs and living expenses.

Scholarship winners must study in New Zealand for a minimum of one school term (ten weeks), commencing by February 2021 (Term 1 of 2021) at the latest. For more information about New Zealand school terms, please visit here.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the I AM NEW scholarship, you must:

be a legal citizen of Germany, France or Italy, or have held resident status in one of these countries for at least two years;
be 14, 15, 16 or 17 years of age at the time of the application

To apply for the I AM NEW scholarship, you need to complete this application form and provide the name and contact details of your parent(s) or caregiver(s). If your application is successful we will contact them for permission for you to take part in the scholarship programme.
Along with your application, you must submit:

a motivational letter, AND
either an online blog OR a short video (maximum 2 minutes).

In your entry, you should introduce yourself and answer these questions:

How would a New Zealand education would make you NEW?
What NEW thinking could you do in New Zealand?
What is NEW about studying in New Zealand?
